ProMobiE joint project

Professional mobility consulting for multimodal transportation services in the context of e-mobility (ProMobiE)

Mobility consulting for ideal travel solutions with e-mobility

People are already taking advantage of multimodal public transport. Upon returning from a business trip in the U.S., a businessman who lands in Frankfurt has many possibilities for completing the trip back to his office in Baden-Baden; for instance, train, rental car or car-sharing. In the future, such diverse multimodal mobility chains will become even more common. If Germany plans to be a lead market as well as a leading provider for e-mobility, then it is even more important to get all e-mobility market players (public transport companies, city utilities, car-sharing providers, etc.) ready for the change.

Professional consulting – employee qualification

The joint project’s research partners (VDV-Akademie, RWTH Aachen University) will analyse multimodal mobility offers as well as create the necessary concepts for (further) training for employees in public transport. To this end, the current and expected future consulting needs of different user groups associated with public transport (professionals, students, seniors, etc.) are systematically collected and translated into appropriate counseling services. For the employees, for instance in customer centers or in the technical areas, further training concepts are being developed that will be tested, applied and evaluated in pilot programs in cooperation with the participating partners (rnv, üstra, Stadtwerke Baden-Baden and BOGESTRA).

Benefiting from the initiated innovation processes

Using the project results, customer consultants working for the participating public transport companies can align their suggestions with e-mobility. Customers will be advised that they can make use of an environmentally friendly e mobility chain. This speaks to those travelers who value travelling in a climate-neutral manner whenever possible and wins them over as (new) customers. One of the project participants is VDV Akademie e.V., which represents more than 50 public transport companies. Employees of the member companies will receive information about the project results in training sessions to ensure broad scientific application of the findings.
